It's a personal relationship manager for Windows. Think of it as a smart, private address book that helps you remember important details about the people in your life: how you met, what they're working on, when their birthday is, when you last spoke. It's designed for personal relationships and networking, not for sales pipelines or business deals.
Is this a subscription?
No. Great With Faces is a one-time purchase. You pay once, you own it forever. There are no monthly fees, no annual renewals, and no "premium" features hidden behind a paywall. Everything is included.
Where is my data stored?
On your computer. Your contacts are stored in an encrypted database on your own device. TapTap Code does not have servers, does not store your data, and has no way to access it. If you choose to set up cloud backup, the backup goes to your own Google Drive or Dropbox account, not ours.
What encryption does it use?
The database is encrypted with AES-256. Contact photos are also individually encrypted with AES-256. The encryption key is tied to your Windows user account, so your data is protected even if someone copies the database file. Encryption is automatic. You don't need to set it up or manage keys.
Does it work on Mac or Linux?
Not currently. Great With Faces is a Windows application (Windows 10 or later). We may explore other platforms in the future, but right now we're focused on making the Windows experience excellent.
Is there a mobile app?
Not at this time. Great With Faces is designed for the place where you do your deepest thinking and planning: your desk. Mobile may come later, but the desktop is where it starts.
Can I import my existing contacts?
Yes. You can import from Google Contacts (including photos, emails, phone numbers, addresses, birthdays, and notes), LinkedIn (via CSV export from linkedin.com), Instagram (followers/following), and Bluesky. You can also import from a JSON file.
What happens if I accidentally delete a contact?
Deleted contacts go to a Recycle Bin where they're kept for 30 days. You can restore them at any time during that window. After 30 days, they're permanently removed.
How do I get updates?
When a new version is available, we'll send you an email with a download link. There's no automatic update mechanism. You're always in control of when (and whether) to update. Updates are free.
What if I get a new computer?
Set up cloud backup before you switch. Your backup file (in your Google Drive or Dropbox) contains all your contacts and settings. Install Great With Faces on your new machine, connect to the same cloud account, and restore from backup.
Do you collect any data about me?
No. The app sends no analytics, no usage statistics, and no crash reports. It doesn't require an account or login. The only network requests the app makes are ones you initiate: importing contacts, backing up, or enriching a profile. Read the full privacy policy.
Can I use this for my business contacts too?
Absolutely. Many people use it for a mix of personal and professional contacts. Tags, groups, and the Kanban board view make it easy to organise contacts however you like. That said, it's not designed to replace a sales CRM. There are no deal tracking, email campaign, or team collaboration features.
Why no Twitter/X import?
Twitter's API charges developers per API call, making it prohibitively expensive to offer as an import feature in a one-time-purchase app. We're not prepared to line Elon Musk's pockets for a platform he's been actively destroying since the moment he acquired it. If you want to bring your social connections into Great With Faces, we support Bluesky, Instagram, and LinkedIn (via CSV), platforms that don't charge developers extortionate fees for basic access to their own users' data.
What if I need help?
Email us at info@taptapcode.net. It's a small company, so you'll hear back from a real person. It will probably take a little longer than you're used to. You can also find us on LinkedIn.
Install the app. After purchasing, download the installer (.exe) and run it. Windows may show a SmartScreen warning because the app is new. Click "More info" and then "Run anyway". This is normal for new software that hasn't built up a reputation with Microsoft yet.
Accept the licence agreement. The installer will show the End User Licence Agreement. Read through it and accept to proceed.
Launch Great With Faces. The app opens to an empty contact list. Your encrypted database has been created automatically. No setup required.
Add your first contact. Click the "+ Add Contact" button in the header. Fill in whatever you know. Name is the only required field. Everything else (email, phone, notes, tags) is optional.
Explore the views. Use the view bar (Grid, Board, Timeline, Map) to switch how you see your contacts. Try the Map view if you've added locations. It's quite satisfying to see your network plotted on a globe.
Set up cloud backup. Go to Settings (gear icon) → Connections tab. Connect your Google Drive or Dropbox account. Then use the Export menu to run your first backup. See the backup guide for details.
Great With Faces can import contacts from several sources. Here's how each one works.
Connect your Google account. Go to Settings → Connections → Google Contacts → Connect. A browser window will open for you to sign in with Google.
Open the Import dialog. Click Import in the header → select "Google Contacts".
Choose your groups. The app will show your Google contact groups. Select the ones you want to import.
Review and import. Preview the contacts, then click Import. Photos, emails, phone numbers, addresses, birthdays, and notes will all be brought across. Duplicates are automatically detected.
Export your connections from LinkedIn. Go to linkedin.com → Settings → Data Privacy → Get a copy of your data. Select "Connections" and request the export. LinkedIn will email you a download link (usually within a few minutes).
Import the CSV. In Great With Faces, click Import → LinkedIn CSV. Choose the file you downloaded from LinkedIn. The app will parse it and show you a preview.
Open the Import dialog. Click Import → Instagram.
Sign in. A browser window opens showing Instagram's own login page. Sign in as you normally would. The app never sees your password.
Review and import. Your followers and following lists will appear for review. Select the ones you want to add as contacts.
Open the Import dialog. Click Import → Bluesky.
Enter your handle. Type your Bluesky handle (e.g. @yourname.bsky.social) and connect your account.
Review and import. Your follows will appear for review. Select the ones you want to add as contacts.
Because your data lives on your device, backing up is important. Great With Faces can back up to your own Google Drive or Dropbox account.
Connect your cloud account. Go to Settings → Connections. Click Connect next to either Google Drive or Dropbox. A browser window opens for you to authorise the connection.
Run your first backup. Click the Export/Backup button in the header. Choose "Back up to Google Drive" or "Back up to Dropbox". On first use, you'll be asked to choose a folder. The app remembers your choice for next time.
Backups are timestamped. Each backup creates a new file with a date and time stamp. Previous backups are never overwritten, so you can always go back to an earlier version.
Click the Export/Backup button and choose "Restore from Google Drive" or "Restore from Dropbox".
Pick a backup file. If you have multiple backups, a list appears showing them newest-first. Select the one you want.
Restore merges, not overwrites. Restored contacts are merged with your existing data using an "upsert" approach: existing contacts are updated, new contacts are added, and nothing is deleted. This is safe to run at any time.
Quick theme switching. Click the colour swatch button in the header bar. A popover shows all 12 themes as preview cards. Click any theme to apply it instantly.
Full appearance settings. Go to Settings → Appearance tab for more control: card corner radius, card density (compact/normal/spacious), accent glow intensity, minimum card width, avatar shape (circle/squircle/square), and CRT scanlines toggle.
App icon. In Settings → Appearance → App Icon, choose from four icon designs: Aurora (default), Neon Night, Rainbow, and Candy. The icon updates in your taskbar immediately. Note: if you have a desktop shortcut, Windows caches its icon separately. To update it, right-click the shortcut → Properties → Change Icon. The shortcut already points to the app, so all four icons will appear. Just pick the one you want and click OK.
